Most unplanned stoppages in a flour mill are caused by small, cheap parts: a torn sleeve, a cracked sieve cleaner, a broken bucket bolt or a worn V belt. Keeping a short list of fast movers in your store turns a lost shift into a 20-minute change.
Cleaning section
- Perforated sheets and screens for separators and pre-cleaners
- Destoner mesh and scourer mesh
- Plate, hump and grill magnets (and keep them clean)
- Washer whizzer screens if you wash wheat
Milling section
- Roller mill cleaning brushes and inlet glass
- Helical gears and pulleys for roll drives
- V belts of each section and length you run
- Bearings by number for roller mills and sifters
Sifting section
- Milling fabric (bolting cloth) for each passage
- Sieve cleaners: oval balls, triangle, star and cotton cleaners
- Plansifter sleeves, felt seals and staple pins
- A spare sieve frame for the busiest passages
Conveying and dust control
- Elevator buckets, bucket bolts and belt fasteners
- Chains, sprockets and couplings for conveyors and airlocks
- Jet filter bags, diaphragms and solenoid valves
- Pipe bends, lock rings and clamps
How much to stock
Base the quantity on how often you change each part and how long a re-order takes. Parts that stop the whole mill (sleeves, cleaners, belts and buckets) deserve a larger buffer than parts used on one machine.
Send us your machine list and we will help you build a stock list for your mill.
